About The Sierra Sky Ranch
Sierra Sky Ranch Resort is located just 10 miles south of the
Yosemite National Park's southern entrance on Highway 41, north of
Fresno. At an elevation of 3200 ft. the climate is ideal - just
below the snow line and well above the valley fog in the wintertime.
Established in 1875, Sierra Sky Ranch Resort was the first working
cattle ranch in the area; in 1946 it was converted to a guest
facility. In the old days the ranch supplied food for the logging
camps at Sugar Pine and Soquel. Since then tens of thousands of
visitors from all over the world have enjoyed its simple, laid back
atmosphere in an environment of natural beauty.
This beautiful more than 100-year-old converted mountain ranch,
nestled among towering oaks and pines beside a sparkling trout
stream is the perfect getaway. A wide veranda where you can relax
sipping lemonade or a Bloody Mary while kids play in the pool, the
game room, or on the spacious green lawn surrounding this
comfortable old ranch house.
Inside the Ranch has a spacious great room with beamed ceilings, two
stone fireplaces, knotty pine walls, lovely vintage western
furniture and a grand piano. Adjacent to the great room is our "game
room" for children complete with board games, children's books,
large screen television and a baseball pinball game. At the end of
the hall of our main house is a peaceful Library where guests come
to read, relax, or play a hand of cards. Our many outdoor activities
include horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, and fishing at nearby
Lewis Creek (walking distance from the Ranch).
Guests can satisfy their appetites at The Branding Iron, our
full-service restaurant and saloon, open daily in the summer for
breakfast and dinner; and open Wednesday - Sunday nights for dinner
in the wintertime. Inside the Branding Iron Restaurant and Saloon
you will find another stone fireplace and a soul-soothing panoramic
view of the alpine surroundings through a wall of windows.
The ranch can accommodate 67 overnight guests. Rooms open out with
double doors onto the veranda overlooking the scenic beauty of the
area. Our coziest room, the Honeymoon/Sierra Suite, boasts a
luxurious king bed, a separate sitting room complete with it's own
stone fireplace, and a private, small outside sitting porch.
Each room has a private bath, cable television, ceiling fan, and
coffee maker. There are no telephones in the rooms; however, we do
offer wireless Internet.
For the guests who want to venture out beyond the Ranch, Bass Lake
is only four miles up the road where boating, water skiing, fishing
and picnicking are available. Also nearby is the Yosemite National
Sugar Pine Railroad, trains depart several times a day for trips
into the Sierra National Forest's majestic woods. A few miles up the
road is Nelder Grove, a stand of Giant Redwoods. The majesty of
Yosemite Valley and winter sports at Badger Pass are only minutes
away from the Ranch. For those who prefer indoor adventure you can
try your luck on the Las Vegas style slots and table games at the
Chukchansi Casino, a mere minutes away, off of Highway 41 in nearby
Coarsegold.
Weddings, receptions, anniversary parties, birthday parties and
family reunions are welcome events at the ranch. We will work
closely with each group, catering to individual needs. Our goal is
to make your event one that you will treasure forever.
